New Age Practices and Beliefs
This Topic will include everything in the new age section from wicca to psychic's. I have studied a few areas in the new age section like wicca, witchcraft, vampirism, psychic powers, mediation, crystals, herbs, and so on. Also, in this topic, I would like to start a discussion about different new age.
So, all opinions are welcome about this.

At one time I was pretty heavy into a lot "New Age" stuff. I was pretty proficient at reading Tarot Cards and have read many a book on mysticism and had some pretty wild shit happen when using Ouja boards (I won't ever use them again). I've been to and believe in phychics and believe there is a subconscience level to all things.

What were the books called that you read on mysticism? I am just curious. Was there anything else in the new age section that you were into at that time?

I wish I could give some real good specific answers, but its been well over 15 years since I was heavily into most of that stuff. I used write thesis papers on it in High School whenever we were free to choose our own topic. But the one of my main referances that i always kept up with was the Encyclopedia of the Strange. It had so many intersting entries of wierd and interesting stuff that can be documented as facts. But i my mom used to take to a new age bookstore for research and then i would use whatever i could find at the library (which wasn't very much). Unfortuately, i don't have those books anymore as they've disappeared through moved and so many relocations since then.
Sorry I can't be more informative here.

I think I have heard of that book before. sorry about messaging you from my boyfriends account. I wasn't paying too close of attention. I didn't more oracle cards than tarot cards.

I used to be really interested in the Wiccan religion mostly because my parents were so against it. I also thought that their beliefs and practices are really interesting and I'm always trying to learn more. My mom has actually converted from Catholicism to something more New Age-y and is really into these animal card things and reiki. I used to be weirded out by it, but now I think it's really cool since she can like channel energy and stuff like that.

That was the same way with my parents too. My parents are Lutherans. My mom is the more religious out of the two. After loosing some interested in wicca, I went into energy magick. I found an interested in that and found myself. I believe some people shouldn't prejudge people soul based on religion.

I'm very interested in vampyrism, but I haven't actually researched it yet. Do any of you know of any good, informative sites that I could go to?

Hard to tell with Psychics... for the most part, I can believe in the power of the human mind, but the majority of them out there are charlatans preying on the gullible nature of others to make a few bucks (and now throwing on the disclaimer "Purely for Entertainment" to cover their own asses in case of lawsuits), as evidenced by the sheer number of "Psychic Hotlines"... if they truly knew winning lottery numbers, why are they making minimum wage working over the phone?

Who decides what is sane and what is not? The majority? What if they are the ones who are truly insane?
Guildenstern: I think I have it. A man talking sense to himself is no madder than a man talking nonsense not to himself.
Rosencrantz: Or just as mad.
G: Or just as mad.
R: And he does both.
G: So there you are.
R: Stark raving sane.
