well the thing at issue is can whites not just minorities be discriminated against and to what extent do we need to go in order to make sure that minorities are respected as well as the majority.

Mohammed's birthday.... This applies to a religion not a race.... All races are represented in this.... (Yes including white people.....Chechnians)

-You have the NAACP.
There is a NAA"W"P as well
-You have BET.
The majority of other channels are for White people, except the 2 for Hispanic peole and the special channels that cost extra money...chinese, korean, etc.

-If we had WET(white entertainment television) ...we'd be racist.

-If we had a White Pride Day... you would call us racist.
Yeah, there isn't a Black Pride Day.... point?

-If we had white history month... we'd be racist.
Black history month was to even out the racism that already exists...

-If we had an organization for only whites to "advance" our lives... we'd be racist.

-If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships...you know we'd be racist.
Already exists....

-In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights...you would call us racist.
In the Million Man march, many different races marched together and they were for "civil" rights not "african american rights....so EVERYONE is included in that.

-Did you know that some high school students decided to make a club for only the white students because the other ethnicities had them. they all got sent to court for being racist but the african-american, Latino, and Asia clubs were not even questioned.

-You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.

Pianist, most of those answers border on "well the whites did it first, so the blacks did it second just to even things out, so HA!"... which is not a satisfactory answer to anyone, I'm sure...

And on a side note, racism is the incorrect word idiot ignorant people came up with way back in the day to describe their ridiculous prejudices against someone for simply havinga different color of skin, we are all the same race of people, the ethnicity is what is different. But I doubt we'll change the way the term 'racism' is used, even if it is obviously incorrect...

Also, a fun fact I picked up recently, did you guys know there is more diversity within each ethnicity than there is amongst others? (makes being a racist kind of redundant eh...)

Well, for that matter, genetically we have more in common with chimps than each other.

there is a 1.5% difference in DNA between humans and chimps, but now geneticists are saying that the average human has DNA which is 2-3% different from the person next to them.

So now racism gets really silly, especially if we're talking "supreme genetic race" type of racism.

I'm white, and frankly I hate a lot of the attitudes a lot of white people I know hold. Like it has allready been stated, don't fucking do it, and correct others if you feel comfortable doing so.

What no one focuses on is how "racism" (which is a poor term, see one of my earlier posts in this thread) exists in other forms than black vs. white. Light and dark skinned blacks in some areas become prejudiced against one another. Light skinned blacks and latinos are at odds, becoming incredibly defensive if you are to confuse them for one or the other. In poor areas, cultural identity becomes everything, at all costs, which is a poor mentality no matter what color you are. Cultural identity will only carry you so far until it becomes impractical or turns you into another walking stereotype, because you no longer can use the culture as legitimate identity, so you latch on to cultural stereotypes, perpetuating bigotry and racism.

This happens in poor white culture too. Middle and low class whites against upper and investment class whites. Poor whites turning on poor hispanics, blaming them for the failing economy in it's entirety (well and maybe democrats too to be fair).

From a psychological development standpoint, these are all issues relating to poor forming and/or functioning of the frontal brain lobes, which process critical thought, decision making, risk management, analytical thinking, and all those things that are supposed to make us so much better than every other animal.

This can be caused from a myriad of things, such as history of abuse, poor education, a broken family, heavy drug use of any variety, or perhaps simple laziness and ignorance brought on by a life where nothing is earned, simply handed out, something many folks across all socio-economic classes should know something about.

The bottom line is, waving a magic legislative wand isn't going to fix people's hearts, minds, and attitudes regarding race.

People have to start waking the fuck up and realizing how much we all do the exact same things we bitch about people doing all day long.

We just find different ways to do them.

No, most of my answer's are either stating that "that does exist so what are they whining for" or "this was not made for the purpose they are trying to use it for and it was made to spread greater awareness about other cultures to try to stop racism which is due to a lack of understanding and awareness about a culture)

I agree with this whole heartedly. At my high school all the seniors were looking for scholarships. Because thats what was required to get three fourths of the scholarships offered.

A quarter of the scholarships were not even used because "they" had applied for the regular ones and gotten those based on their race as well. So money was inaccessible to the white students who still needed it desperately while the "minorities" who had parents who could afford to pay for their college got most of the scholarships.

We need to stop with this color bull. Cut open my arm and cut open the arm of a person of another race. We'll both bleed red blood and have pink tissues. We have the EXACT same organs, and we all have the potential to be as smart as everyone else, if we strive for it. Several people have made referance to "minorities" not having the funds to go to college, but if they are that poor there are things such as FAFSA to help AND the old fashion studying on your own, if you score higher on placement tests than other students colleges tend to have several more scholarships that they tuck away for these students.

I was raised not to be racist. I've dated a black guy, a mexican and white guys. I've never figured out what exactly people think is so very different about us all. So our outside color is different. So is the skin of those girls who look like carrots from too much tanning and fake and baking. Race is just an excuse to try to get more than other people for little to no extra work.
