Harry Potter?

I just had a pretty intense conversation with one of my friends about the Harry Potter series and why it is or is not ok for people, christians especially, to read them because of all the witchcraft stuff in them.

What are some opinions on the subject? Do you think it all just a fiction book that doesn't mean anything? Or do you think it really has a spiritual level that can be dangerous? Things like that, please!

Also, who cares about the witchcraft. First of all it is not real witchcraft and it in no way supports harming anyone or thing.

Yea my stepmom wont let my brother see or read the Harry Potter stuff...They say its the work of the devil...
They use to say the same thing about Pokemon...

Personally, books like this completely skew the practice, practicality, methods, rites, and beliefs associated with true magick. I would like to know how is is the work of the devil? Someone that believes this must have an opinion but I am yet to hear one. You cant just say something is dangerous and not have any reason why you think that.

Exactly, and that has nothing to do with Harry Potter.

*Nod* You're right, it really doesn't. Case in point, Harry Potter is a fun book series filled with illogical, unrepeatable acts of breaking the laws of physics. "Magic" is an illusion, and "Magick" does not distort natural laws of the physical plane. Therefor, Harry Potter represents neither "magic" nor "magick" but fictional sorcery.
