Ditto, and I have read the book of Enoch; which is not included in the Bible because the church supposedly "does not consider it to be spiritually inspired". Enoch was Noahs Great grandfather. You can find proof of that in Genesis.

While I don't view any religious writing as being infallible, I don't personally know many modern Christians who actually support those things. There are some out there, don't get me wrong. But I know many people who consider themselves Christians who are also rational, compassionate, and caring human beings.

Yeah there's bunk in the bible (in my opinion), like any other religious writing. But then why don't people criticize muslims in the same way or Jews (whose Bible IS the OT...)or Buddhists or whoever. Maybe you do that. I just feel like Christians who are vocal about their personal faith tend to get slammed more than other religions. Just speaking from the perspective of someone who used to be a Christian.

Man I was all up in that religious shit till i was 18... they don't give two shits in hell about you, or your Life, they just want ya Money! They make ya feel guilty about yourself, & convince people they're goin to heaven if they follow the Congregation rules and shit... dude I gurantee you havent read the Bible thorougly, or apparently you missed the Scripture(can't remember exactly, been such a long time) where it reads Babylon the Great(ALL False Religion) will be destroyed at the time of the "End"... and who the fuck knows if there is even a "True" religions, theres so many fuckin different beliefs!!! dude you see christians slammed the most because you live in a christian nation... the torah, the qu'ran etc. its all made fun of too but do you expect an english speaking american to have read the torah or qu'ran? so how will they talk bad about it if they cant understand it? thts why they dont but yeah all are bullshit .. they have some good info maybe, but they shouldnt be treated like a "bible"

I do understand the Bible (I've read plenty of it), and I find it no more realistic than the Harry Potter books. But you know, I don't have faith that Harry Potter is going to save us all from Lord Voldemort any more than I believe some messiah is going to come down from the sky and mark the chosen.

Or take the example of a book of Greek mythology. If you were to encounter someone who held faith in the Greek pantheon of Gods and claimed them to be real... could you prove that your God is real and theirs isn't?

It's not like you're the prophet Elijah, able to draw God's so called divine fire to incinerate a soaking wet altar while Baal's followers pray feverishly to some nonexistent power.
