Question Baptism

LibraChick is offline
For whatever religon i'm pretty sure all of them have a baptism process. Do you believe that if you are not baptised then you will go to hell?(Even if there is a hell i'm not sure)

I'd say no.

No way, dude. Baptism is just a symbolic act to show that you've been saved. It's the death and resurrection of Jesus that saves people, not baptism.

Check it.

Not all religions some don't believe in a hell. I think the idea of someone "going to hell" for not being baptized is ridiculous. I don't recall reading it was required to do. If that was the case then all babies that are born dead/die at birth would go to hell.

No its not required for someone to be baptised it is a symbol such as a wedding ring on the ring finger. If you dont get a wedding ring after being married is equivalent to not getting baptised after your saved...it would look kinda wierd not getting a wedding ring at your wedding right?

True, but in that case I don't agree with baptising babies. They haven't choosen their religion yet so why baptise them. There is no age restriction on when to be baptised I think it should be left up to the individual not forced upon them in that case. I was baptised but im not christian.

ya i will agree with this you have to make the choice yourself. No one else can make that decision but you and only you.

Yeah, that's true. At the church I grew up in they have infant dedications, or whatever, where they sprinkle water on their heads and junk. I'm okay with that, because it asks the church as a whole to take responsibility for raising that child and stuff. That people consider it baptism is lame, though. You really do need to make that decision on your own. The way I see it, I haven't actually been baptised, but I'm trying to decide how/where/when I want to do it.

It's not just Catholics that baptise babies. Methodists do that dedication thing I was talking about, which is pretty much the same thing. I don't know what other denominations do, though.
