As summer vacation begins, 17 girls at Gloucester High School are expecting babies—more than four times the number of pregnancies the 1,200-student school had last year. Some adults dismissed the statistic as a blip. Others blamed hit movies like Juno and Knocked Up for glamorizing young unwed mothers. But principal Joseph Sullivan knows at least part of the reason there's been such a spike in teen pregnancies in this Massachusetts fishing town. School officials started looking into the matter as early as October after an unusual number of girls began filing into the school clinic to find out if they were pregnant. By May, several students had returned multiple times to get pregnancy tests, and on hearing the results, "some girls seemed more upset when they weren't pregnant than when they were," Sullivan says. All it took was a few simple questions before nearly half the expecting students, none older than 16, confessed to making a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together. Then the story got worse. "We found out one of the fathers is a 24-year-old homeless guy," the principal says, shaking his head.

The children are completely retarded as are their families. That's what I think. None of these kids know what they're getting into and I personally blame the school and parents for not teaching them properly about parenthood and safe-sex. Or whatever.

I say we burn the whole town.

I'm with Opu, the responsibility to keep your kids safe and unpregnant lies with the parents till they turn 18. I really wonder what these parents must have been doing in order for something like this to happen, I heard one of the girls got pregnant by a 24 year old homeless man...

Oh man, this story is so old. Okay, so not really. But you know... being from Massachusetts 'n' all.

I find this article on it really funny, though. How could you blame a movie like Juno?

Sure, younger minds are easily influenced, but that's when the parents step in and say, "Hey. If you get pregnant, we're disowning you." Or, you know... just talk to them. Blaming movies and video games for everything is so Democratic...

I have to agree. The parents are responsible to keep their kids safe and not pregnant. I don't think they really want to own up to their responsibilities of taking care of their kids. Plus it's absolutely rediculous to blame movies.

So, seven or eight girls decided to have babies when they were teenagers and they all thought that was a good idea? Please tell me it was peer-pressure or something, they all can't be stupid enough to do it willingly.

I wonder what group they belonged to. Probably FFA.

So, this highschool apparently has their own daycare, they have so many teen mothers. Wow. And then the mayor said that there's no evidence that there was a pact made. So, that means either the girls their are crazy, or they just fuck all the time.

Which is it, Mayor? Psychopaths or whores?
