Tell me how taking public transportation helps the environmen?

Okay so one of the things they tell you is to cut down on your use of oil/gas so they make hybrids that are supposed to cut down on it, and a few very expensive eletrical cars are made for that reason. But still many public transportation facilities use gas, so is that really helping?

I'm not against using Public Transportation but in my town it's easier if you have a car. I am seriously considering giving driving another try, it's really been rough on me.

There is no reason not to use gas at all.

However, use it responsibly. Walk when you can. Use public transportation when you can. Ride a bike/skateboard/whatever when you can. Using minimal as necessary amounts is the key.

And if you are asking about the "pollution" it causes, let me ask you why do you think carbon, the stuff that appears in ALL organic matter, is destroying the earth?

Carbon isn't always good, carbon monoxide can kill you. I'm not sure what all gas emits, but just as an example.

And public transportation is good because instead of every person on the bus driving a car, it's just the one bus using gas. The idea it to cut down.

Right I agree with you, but moderation is the solution, not refusing to use the natural resource of oil altogether.

The comment about Carbon isn't to disprove overconsumption of oil isn't bad, because it is, just that global warming isn't why we should do it, it's simply for good stewardship of natural resources.

Although a time may come sooner than we think that we will not have a choice.

What other stuff can oill be used in? Besides gas, there's a huge amount of it within the earth.

And speaking of this environmental/not wasting stuff. It bothers me when people complain about wasting food. To eat everything off your plate can cause you to become fat. That's why one of the fat jokes is, "he/she's from the clean plate club". You should eat when you are hungry and stop when your full and if neccessary throw away the food or left overs. In fact you could probably use some of that food to mix in with fertilizer to plant into the earth?

My overweight family believes eating everything off your plate even if there's too much.

That's silly, I always eat just what I feel like, although if people want to not waste food so much they should learn how much they can eat and not overfill their plate so they can "clean" it.

There's no real "public transportation" in the backwoods hick-town I hate to call home...so driving is a must.

Yeah same here. I don't know how small in size and population your town is, but it's not just my town but my whole Virginia county is small and hickish.

Well, that's one problem with America. It's quite large, making it difficult for a large train network. I'm thinking like Germany, and there's probably other factors hindering the growth of public transportation aside from size. I'm thinking like corporate interests.
