The world's oldest known tree was recently found in Sweden. The tenacious spruce found roots shortly after the last ice age, and carbon dating places it at around 9,550 years of age.
Not much to look at, is it? It beat out Methuselah, the previously held oldest tree:
That's right, it's over nine thousaaaaaaaaaaaaaand!!!

Wow, that's crazy! I didn't realize things could live that long! I wonder how this discovery happened, they just decided to randomly take some samples and date them or what? The tree doesn't look particularly old to me... still pretty cool, take that creationists!

Well, you see. First, they find the re-incarnation of Jesus and steal his sperm. Then, they impregnate a thousand virgins and pick out the two fetuses that look the most like Hitler. Then, then take the spines of those babies and they make a divining rod that points them to the oldest tree in the world.
