Illegal Immigrants Getting Rebate?

The Politico examines the potential risk of illegals receiving the latest "stimulation package" alongside tax-paying US citizens.

Personally I think it's absurd that the Senate had to specify that only people with LEGAL SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS can receive the tax rebate. Shouldn't that be implied in the system?

And people can't figure out why the economy is in the tank....

The tax rebate that Bush has been talking about and that house and senate are kicking around. It may have passed, I don't remember. I'm expecting a large tax return this year, so I'm not too worried about it personally.

some time in the next few months people who make less than a certain amount are supposed to get 800 per individual or 1600 for married couples or something like that.. i dont have time to look into it.. thats just what i heard

600 for singles and 1200 for couples were the numbers I heard, but that was before whatever the senate wanted to do to it and haven't checked on it since it had just passed the house.

The Senate wants to add more to it, to give it a bigger effect. They've yet to vote on it. The problem is, they change it then it goes back to the House and the thing is delayed even longer. There's not even a guarantee the House would accept the Senate's changes and then we're back to square one. If they want this money to get into the system before July they need to get it out there.

And then again, $600 isn't going to make up for a lost home or defaulted mortgage...

It's true, but this rebate is another in a long line of government handouts. Don't get me wrong, the people of this nation suffering in a collapsing economy deserve things to be better than they are (although, some of us, if not all of us, are partially responsible in this mess, and perhaps we will receive our "just comeupance" so to speak). My point is that this is no "stimulus package" as it's simply draining more money from the coffers of government that they don't have to spend.

Income tax returns aggravate me slightly less, as I view it as money that's rightfully mine anyway, as the income tax only makes up enough money to finance the Federal Reserve's financing system, whose monetary and lending policies have got us where we are in the first place, gold standard or not.

How much money do we need to barrow from the Chinese for this? People may not like to hear this, the economy is falling and the more government intervines into the matter, the more damage it will do. Cutting the interest rate by printing more money will only wipe out the middle class, thus making the federal reserve along with other government agencies to blame for this. A repeat of the 70's but worse.
