The amount of spin in that video was staggering. From the skewed camera angle when panning over her when she was unconscious (?) to the number of times they insisted that she was highly intelligent, and thus precipitating a change in the paradigm of terrorism from being straightforward to more insidious (reading between the lines, here) there was hardly any evidence presented against her. Maps of New York are everywhere, millions of people take the subways, and the Statue of Liberty is one of the most iconic edifices in the modern world. The only inexplicable interests (which are brought to our attention out of context) are the contents regarding the Animal Disease Center.
We currently have no knowledge of her current employment, and it's mere conjecture that's attributing this wealth of information toward terrorism. It could be that she's been employed to research Zoonotic diseases such as SARS, West Nile, and the H5N1 influenza virus for the purposes of
preventing further outbreak.
Her placement on the Most Wanted List was obviously a precautionary measure. A rather suggestive money trail was found, to be certain, but it held little conclusive evidence. Aafia Siddiqui made numerous donations to charities that later proved to be fronts, though there's no guarantee that she knew that. She also made a significant wire transfer to Habib Bank, a large Pakistani financial institution, though it would be stupid to discount the possibility that she has
family there, given that she was originally from Pakistan.
In fact, the real questionable conduct is mostly in the hands of her divorced husband, an anesthesiologist practicing in Pakistan. He had divorced Aafia Siddiqui after numerous heated arguments regarding the education of their three children. Aafia wanted the children educated in the West, while Mohammed Khan wanted them educated in Pakistan under strict Muslim supervision. Mohammed then went on to purchase numerous military-use equipment with their shared bank account.
What I see when I look through the history is a series of possibilities. The only damning evidence I see against her is her attempted murder of a U.S. soldier while she was in detention in Afghanistan earlier this month. Everything else is a
could be.
