Excuses

I browse a couple different forums, some of them discuss war topics, but most everyone either is for the war, or against it. So I noticed that 90% of the time, the people who approve of the war, their only excuse is "well, we're already there, we can't just get up and leave, it would make Iraq a terrorist state more than it already is..." and the people who are against the war 90% of the time say something like "well let's just bring them home asap, just leave, right now, stop the funding and just get our troops out, we went in just as fast as we can pull out".

So I just wanted to talk about what you guys think of these excuses?

I personally think that anyone who gives the explination "well we're already over there, we can't just pull out now..." is a total fucking idiot! Because that makes no fucking sense. Their whole justification for not pulling out, not bringing men and women home asap is because 'we're already there'... yeah. Anyone who says this to me, I usually reply "well howbout if we had never gone in the first place?" then I usually get something back like "oh well we did, so it doesn't matter anyway..." !!!!!!

I don't think pulling out 100% of the troops right away would be the best move, but pulling them out would finally mean some fucking progress. That's what the terrorists want, the US out of the middle east, more than half of the carbombs that go off are targeted at American and coalition forces, not Iraqi forces. We've been there for a solid 6 years with atleast 130,000 troops in the region ever since and we havn't helped with anything really, and there is no substantial victory message in sight, even though GW stated that we had achieved victory in Iraq in 2004...

Idk, it just pisses me off how people use the same damn excuse to justify STILL fucking being there when we're not doing shit in the region except destabalizing it further.

yea, excuses are a killer
they go along with the territory of people who are uneducated, sheep, and unwilling to look at anything outside of their own boundaries

The simple solution, while not being so simple, is to totally change our foreign policies and how we view the world and our role in it (u.s.)

considering how a change/overthrow of dictatorship for Iraq has been in store since 1997/1998, I always find it funny how politicians and especially the people who believe them, say that we are over there because of 9/11

No we aren't. At the very least the government USED 9/11 to get the support it wanted/needed.

People are so ridiculously blind to that fact because it "hurts" too much to think of something so horrible or all they can think about are the American lives lost on 9/11 and then proceed to claim that anything of truth is proposterous

Alas,
people be sheep if you want to
I will be here, against the war, as I have been since the beginning... well before the beginning actually

I like Ron Paul's philosophy on this subject.

"We just marched in, we can just march out."

Unfortunately it's as old as time itself,
and the U.S. has been using this tactic frequently for a great deal of time now

Exactly. And the only safe withdrawal for our troops is 100% and immediate. Leaving a few in Iraq with the goal of finishing training, protecting our assets or trying to maintain what peace they can only leaves them outnumbered and surrounded by fundamentalist terrorist groups.

The worse part for me is the hypocrisy. We speak of a democratic government in Iraq, which would likely lead to a Shi'ite majority and we might as well have just left Saddam in power. What 'we' want is a pro-American government, no matter what the majority of Iraqis want and we'll kill whoever we need to to get it.
