The Constitution Antiquated?

The document is over 200 years old and originally intended to govern a nation very different from today's America. The Founding Fathers were quite intelligent and included many measures to allow the document to change as society demanded, but is this not enough?

Also, look at how much power the Federal government has usurped compared to what the Constitution says it should have. Is this indicative of a fundamental flaw in the document or simply a result of ignorance on the part of a people who aren't active or intelligent enough about their government? Can something like this be taken into account when planning such a government as this?
Is this Federal power necessary for the rest of the Constitution to function and should it therefore be changed to reflect this?

The Constitution did originally call for a weak government and I believe our government is way too powerful. As a libertarian, I don't believe the government has any right to impose on social issues such as drugs, prostitution, gambling, and gay marriage. Even state governments I don't believe should have this right. Income tax used to be illegal, but the federal government instituted it as a temporary wartime measure. Look at where we are now.

While I believe the government needs some power...I don't believe it should be as powerful as it is.

It has it's power due to the ignorance of the people....I don't believe it is any flaw in the docements. The documents called for changes to be made as needed (i think so anyway, i don't feel like looking them up at the moment) and at the time, we don't need this strong of a government.

But states should have the right to decide if they want to make something illegal in their state.

Don't like it? Try to exact change through local politics or move to another state.

Adhering to this idea could solve a lot of problems.

I have a hard time saying whether this nation is an issue of a flawed founding document, or the ignorance to what it says in the first place.
