I have to agree that it is definately a weaker argument on his part.
I'm friends with several Wiccans (a pagan religion, depending on how you classify), and they don't speak to trees or anything funky like that... in fact, they're the least oppressive religion I know of.
1) Everyone is welcome.
2) Do what you want, so long as nobody is harmed by it.
3) Respect the Earth, it sustains life.
Well, that's my understanding of the principles... anyone care to add anything?
I will add, though, that there is a large number of people who adopt such religions purely for the attention and really have no belief in it whatsoever. So I can see the point Brett was trying to make.
