All religions are about power and money. All religions lies to trick the people and support a non-working class of elites. No matter what your beliefs are, Atheist, Agnostic, Deist or Theist, stop supporting religion today and let it die the death it should of a long time ago.

um..Noz, this guy just made a fool of himself on free television. If he had been calmer and produced more evidence, it would have been much more convincing. Hear me out here.
In the begginning, early humans' only goal was their primary instinct - to survive. In order to survive, humans began to band together in tribes of hunter-gatherers. As human progressed we experimented and as a result of our actions people got killed, got sick, but they also established diplomatic relations, set up allainces, learned to farm and domesticate animals. At this point in time tribes could make war on one another for land, they might have inner squabbles, there could be problems with cooking such as if the ham was not cooked fully and you ate it with milk. Such things led to the development of religion, religion served as guidance in times of despair and war, priests were scholars and would use their power to spread their knowledge because people don't listen to people

and so the church grew, it was guidance, peace, tranquility, education, centralized organization. There was a point where learning was fostered by the church, where intellect was desirable in the church, monks were scholars, musicians, and writers among other things. At this point at the high point of the church, there was only one way to go, down. The church which had fostered learning became aware of it's power, became aware of the devotion of the people to god, began to seize the power for the sake of power and wealth and hasn't turned back. In due course, scientific fact/theory whatever you want to call it emerged, now in contradiction with what the priests preached, the bishops said, and the pope ordered. But the pope is infallible, so what did the church have to do to keep its integrity? Accuse science of being wrong. From this point the church stunted the growth of science, caused inter religious tension and forced people apart. Here religion, the item of pride in a town, the item of fame, glory, shelter, sanction became the root of all evil. Something intended to help the survival of the human race, distorted and destructive. Much like communism, originally with good intentions, it was easily distorted and used against the people it was meant to help. So you see... religion is not all bad...just the ass-faced morons that run them

And, the guy (who I distinctly dislike... despite his truthful message) forgot the foster child scam. Seriously... how much of every dollar goes to the benefit of the kid again? I know it varies, but it's rarely more than $0.25...

definitely a good quote. but I don't think all of what he was saying was truth. In early times, statues were adorned simply because the people, the common people, thought that the should give these things to statues as respect for the religion almost, a booster to their faith. If you reverently believed in a religion and the statue or building you prayed to or in respectively had the appeal of a garbage can, smelled like one or in a lesser case was just unglamorous and your god was supposed to be an almighty, glamorous, spectacular, awesome god and you prayed to a simple rock. Wouldn't you be disheartened?

I understand your reluctance to conform to any existing religion, and also your dislike for all religions, (although i must say, its respectful if you have looked up and studied each of these religions that you so passionatley dissagree with, but if not then its just ignorant) but let me ask you this. How far do you think the human race can survive, without hope? Without faith? The thought of "we're just here to die" brings up the whole concept of "why wait" and then we'd have a major suicide of the masses on our hands.

Thats sad that you would even consider that to happen..
We can live with out faith in a religion...
There can be Faith in ones self and not something as false as a God..
To think that there would be so many suicides on lost hope that just tells you about the persons...The will I have nothing to live for so fuck it..
If people would believe more in themselves and the things they can do in this life we would be better of if not smarter and more confident with ourselves to not need a "god" to love us for what we are..

Many organized religions yes. To say that all religion is bad because people have turned into something evil isn't fair though.

It's like the old bumper sticker: I'm fine with God, it's his followers I have the problems with.

To say that because people (which I think we can all agree are imperfect and do stupid, selfish, and hurtful things) screwed up the concept of God negates God is illogical. If I go on an interview on TV and say one thing, but they re-edit the film to make me say something else, it doesn't mean that's what I think. Altering your perception of reality doesn't make your perception the correct one.

I realize this argument goes both ways, but it's not my point to prove me right or you wrong in regards to our beliefs. However, my religion does not involve lying to people or exploiting them. It's very much the opposite. And as far as I know, I'm not encouraging anyone to support anyone elite.

To make a blanket statement that all religions do that is ignorant and false.

This is some sick stuff, and its legal to muslims under islamic law.

It was made into a law because the prophet of islam was a sick pedophile and did the things mentioned in the vid. In order for islam to not question the prophet, the koran, or islam a fatwa was decree'd to condone horrific actions.
