Thumbs up Ridiculous questions thread

This thread is for people who want to know anything, it doesn't matter how retarded, idiotic, stupid, crazy or politically incorect the question may seem, if you seriously want to know something, ask it here! (I do ask that you only ask genuine questions, that you or someone you know want's to know the answer to)

So I'll start it off, I have a ton of ridiculous questions in my head.

Why is water blue in large amounts? It's clear everytime you pour a glass of water, so what makes it blue in lakes and oceans?

Why is water blue?
Water is faint blue. Although water appears clear in small quanities (like a glass of water), the blue color becomes visible the more water we look through. Thus, deep lakes and seas are bluer than a shallow river.

Other factors can affect the color we see:

Particles and solutes can absorb light, as in tea or coffee. Green algae in rivers and streams often lend a blue-green color. The red sea has occasional blooms of red Trichodesmium erythraeum algae.
Particles in water can scatter light. The Colorado river is often muddy red because of suspended reddish silt in the water. Some mountain lakes and streams with finely gound rock, such as glacial flour, are tourquise. Light scattering by suspended matter is required in order that the blue light produced by water's absorption can return to the surface and be observed. Such scattering can also shift the spectrum of the emerging photons toward the green, a color often seen when water laden with suspended particles is observed.
The surface of seas and lakes often reflect blue skylight, making them appear bluer. [[[ Montana reflection.]]] The relative contribution of reflected skylight and the light scattered back from the depths is strongly dependent on observation angle.

awesome!

fixed wing aircraft fly because the speed of the air going above the wing is slower than the sleed going below the wing, this causes lift, and if the lift to weight of the object ratio is equal, the plane will fly.

Why if one person is angry everyone gets stressed or angry? Like if your mum or dad comes home and they are in a shitty mood then everyone gets shitty. Or if there is a room full of people and a group of people are angry or stressed then pretty much everyone gets anrgy or stressed. Why? Is it just like the energy flow in the room or the house something?

My sister wants to know..... How can God can listen to everyone at the same time? lmfao what bullshit but she asked me adn I said I would find out for her lol

Because we are relational beings, and no matter how much some poeple like to be alone, our happiness ultimately does hinge on other people's happiness. We need other people. And so they affect us.

God is omipresent. Tell her that. It's the belief that God can be everywhere at once.

I know, at least for bug bites, the area itches because your body recognizes that it's been "invaded" so it sends out white blood cells that are called histamines. They're really annoying because, even though they try to help, they cause the area to itch. That's why you hafta take an anti-histamine to relieve the sensation.

How did racial slurs become racial slurs? Like, why do we use the terms that we use and why are they interpreted negatively?
