I was at a small town Fall Festival, hanging out with one of my greatest friends and I got a phone call.

Friend: "What are you doing right this second?"
Me: "I'm chilling at Stansels house in Roy-town. What's up?"
Friend: "Your not anymore. Your coming with us to Atlanta to see George Carlin live! Drew backed out, his ticket is up for grabs and your first on the list."
Me: "Ok. That's what I'm doing then."

I quickly dropped all previous engagements that had been made. George Carlin has been one of my idols since my early teen years. He was absolutely amazing. I got a free ticket(which normally cost about $45), got some awesome seats on the balcony and had a blast. The man is fucking amazing. He had completely new material. I had never heard any of it before. He is even better in person with his own shit, his own way than he is on HBO's shows.

So he's better when it's not for TV? His recent stuff seems like he's just trying point blank to be offensive, but his mid-stuff is wonderful. Has anyone seen the one where he just lists off stuff that are somewhat relevant to each other. Like they're all TV ADs or all ways to say something, etc? That's crazy awesome I wish I could see that.

Yeah, he is definitely offensive. If anything he was more offensive live. Some of the older folks left after a while. However, that was just a way for him to deliver what he wanted to say. Whenever I applauded, it was more from me genuinely agreeing with what he was saying than just finding humor in it(most of the time both.) For example: He talked about George Bush a bit. Whenever he mentioned him, it was always "governor Bush," saying that that was the last office he held legally. He talked about how the Bill of Rights was bullshit and went on to question what the hell a "right," is. Bah... I can't tell it to you like I heard it. But he was much better live.

EDIT: This is vaguely similar to how the performance went. He hit on airport security that night as well but it was much more current.


EDIT: While we are at it, feel free to use this thread to post some of your favorite clips or whatever of George Carlin.
