Chupacabra...wtf?!?!?

I am watching the Discovery Channel right now and they are talking about the Chupacabra....

It is interesting to me to see how people believe in these things. When I was younger I believed in this sort of thing.

I am curious to see others opinions on this. Do you believe in these sort of things?

BigFoot?
Jersey Devil?
Loch Ness Monster?
...etc....

Here is wickipedia's info on El Chupacabra

I just try to stay away from it all. Things make me wonder. And I just don't really feel like 'wondering' if there is such thing as all those "monsters".

But yes. It is quite curious how all the 'beings' came to be....such TALL tales..lol

Spring-Heeled Jack is the coolest monster name ever. I wish he was real.

Well I live in Jersey and when I was in elementary school they told us the story of the Jersey Devil at some assembly we had. It scared me so much! Why would they tell that to a bunch of little kids?

Yeah...why in the hell would you tell that to elementary school kids? It would just give them unneeded and unnecessary worries.

Because it's part of their local history? And elementary kids are the only ones that would acknowledge it? Legends and other types of stories are a great way to teach kids...and it's better than just letting them sit in front of a TV or textbook all day...

yes they are a great teaching tool...But couldnt they do it in a way that didn't scare the hell out of the kids?

And as typical boys go, telling them that there is a monster in the woods would only spark curiosity and make them do exactly what the families don't want...their kids in the woods looking for a [mythological] creature that could potentially kill and eat them.

Well, I was terrified as a kid when my dad threatened me with "vampire rabbits". Besides, a little scare never hurt the kids, even the girls...have none of you ever been around a campfire telling stories?
