Sheltered people

Who was the oldest and most sheltered person you ever met? How were they sheltered and how did they act?

I am probably the most sheltered person that I know personally but by being rebellious I learned everything the hard way instead of by hearsay.

I wasn't allowed to have music, TV or even friends when I was growing up; all I had was books, comics and video games and that is all I knew. I didn't even try to make friends until I was a sophomore in high school and that is when everything started getting bad. I would skip school to hang out with those friends because I was not able to see them after and I would sneak out to spend time with them late at night as well.

I learned a lot about life by doing stupid things like that but I wouldn't change a damn thing about it. It sculpted who I am today and I love how amazingly awesome I am.

Oh wow, why were you able to play video games but not watch tv? And why couldn't you have friends?

My dad told me that they were useless and a waste of time.

The video games I played were simple things like PacMan, Sonic, Quebert, Donkey Kong, Zelda, TMNT: Turtles in Time, etc. Nothing having to do with violence of any kind.
I only got those [along with the consoles] when my Aunt Lori died when I was little because she left them to me in her will. It's how I got my 2 NES's, 2 SNES's, Sega Genisis and all of the games to them. Before she died, I was not allowed to touch them at all.

There was a girl I went to high school with. She had to be the most sheltered person I've ever known. Her parents had a good reason (to them) to shelter her. She was molested by her older brother and mentally regressed to some degree. After her brother was kicked out of the house, her parents sheltered the hell out of her. She didn't watch much tv just stuff like Strawberry Short Cake and other wholesomy cartoons. She always wore really bulky and unflattering clothes. When we had gym together I found out she wore two sports bras to keep her tits down and to look more childlike and unattractive.

I actually got really protective over her. We rode the bus together and she would always come to me to explain a dirty joke or something. She got picked on by others and I would stand up for her. As far as I know she's still like this.

Oh my, her parents went too far IMO. I'm sure there's better things they could've done. I wonder what became of her....how old is this person.

And you say a bit mentally regressed. Did she seem retarded or something else? Did her parents act like she wouldn't know about sex related stuff even after her molestation?

Well, I live in an insanily small and religious community, so I didn't learn much about anything--especially about sex, tolerance, etc. My parents never discussed what was going on in the world today among other things...hell, only now am I able to get my father to tell me about his past.

I come from a conservative town too. But people are so contradictory here. It's just so odd.
