My only questions is how did he go into "it is not your fault, and it is not my fault. It has nothing to do with you, and it is something that cannot be changed" without breaking up with you then? I mean, did he specify the it, or did he just say he wasnted to talk about it later.

I don't know about breaking up with him first, because you don't KNOW that's what's wrong. Maybe he just has a problem that the relationship can survive. But, you should go and ask him if he has anything he needs to say or talk about, if you're tired of being in suspense. Or tell him he's been acting differently, and ask why.

Call him out. There is obviously a problem that has to be dealt with. If he refuses to talk, you obviously have no hope of communication; and relationships can't exist without communication.
If he is willing to talk but unwilling to fix things, you still have no other recourse but to end the relationship.

If he's willing to talk and fix things, then you should be able to figure out what to do.

I agree with Ristaron. Sit down and talk it out (but it sounded like you already have maybe?). Every relationship I was in went on way longer than it should have, until I stopped trying to force it and let it come to me. Then I met my wife.

I feel like true honest connections are something very difficult to find unless you aren't looking for them.
