... a 1000 words, i cannot think of enough words to even begin to describe this archaeological discovery.
From Reuters: "A pair of human skeletons lie entwined at an neolithic archaeological dig site near Mantova, Italy... In a valentines day gift to the country, scientists said they are determined to jointly remove and preserve the remains of the couple buried 5000 to 6000 years ago, their arms still wrapped around each other in an enduring embrace."
Every time i see this picture, i try to visualize a story of their lives, who they were, and how they died. Who died first? i would like to say it's a sad story, but as their remains speak to us, 5000 or so years later... it's comforting to know that an emotion so powerful as love that one would die in the arms of their counterpart, their lifelong partner in waking and the hereafter. I could never ask for that on my deathbed, i would rather my loved one to continue to live a long, healthy life... But this is an optimistic story that finds us thousands of lifetimes later. Ignore what you have learned from the media and society this last century and read between the lines; take a journey to this living couple, breath the air they breathed, walk in their shoes, work their jobs, and sleep in their beds. Experience how they lived and imagine what they had to do to survive. And as fate prevails, you know who will be right there by your side, looking into your eyes for an eternity.
