Though no one noticed I'm sure
I took a leave from bt and some other places to get my life n order. Well,I found this new place with a buddy of mine that rents for 545 a month. Two bedroom, one bath, huge rooms, big closets, hardwood floors, swimming pool etc. Its pretty sweet. Not to mention all we pay is electric. This is soon to be mt first apt, and I want some advice from the seasoned pros out there; Is this a good deal? What is this renters insurance? I'm looking into it but have no idea what needs covered...or not.
Help?

Minimum wage here is 5.65. I get paid 1400 a month, and I'm a saver so that isn't an issue. Also, does anybody know anything about renters insurance?

And I'm guessing it's close to civilization? Is it close to your work and your school, too?
Umm, so far it sounds really good.

Well, I'd take it. It sounds like it's pretty good.
What's the landlord like? Is it well maintained? Does it include a fridge, AC, heater, and microwave? If it does include appliances are they energy hogs?
Look for mold, rust, and spots on the carpet. Is there a fresh paint job? If there is, then is the paint covering something up? Are the walls thin? Do the cabinets close properly? Do the doors? Are there two locks on the door? Do the windows open? Do the windows have working locks? Are there screens? Are you on the ground floor? If you are, do you have bars? Do all the lights work? If you turn on a switch do too many lights turn on, therefore burning energy? Do you have many outlets? Are there cracks in the tub or sink? Turn on all the taps, test them. How's the water pressure? Is the water clean? Taste the water, does it taste weird? Does the hot water work? Do you have a laundry room? If so, then how much is it to wash a load?
Check the pool, are there rust marks? Is there a proper amount of chemicals? Is the pool enclosed?
Um, I think I can come up with more, but this should get you started.

Yikes. If I were to work 40 hours a week for a month I'd make $2k. Then again, I make almost three times what your minimum wage is... what a difference between our economies.

Ha, I came up with that when I helped my friend with an apartment of her own.

I usually make that in one paycheque, since I only work twice a week.
Other things to inquire about are whether or not pets are allowed, when the noise levels need to come down, and whether or not you can have lots of friends over/party.
