I took a leave from bt and some other places to get my life n order. Well,I found this new place with a buddy of mine that rents for 545 a month. Two bedroom, one bath, huge rooms, big closets, hardwood floors, swimming pool etc. Its pretty sweet. Not to mention all we pay is electric. This is soon to be mt first apt, and I want some advice from the seasoned pros out there; Is this a good deal? What is this renters insurance? I'm looking into it but have no idea what needs covered...or not.
Help?

Well, I would certainly take that deal if I were moving in with a friend. In Canada, that's relatively cheap for a two-bedroom, and if split both ways would be very affordable (the minimum wage here is higher, keep in mind, I get paid $13.46/hour). Electric can tally up quickly, keep in mind, but I wouldn't expect it to be any more than $20/month (again, Canadian prices here) on top of the rent. For a swimming pool, large rooms, etc. in Winnipeg in a decent neighbourhood could be up to $800/month plus utilities and shit. I would take the $545 plus electric.
But, I don't know how the prices are in the U.S., so perhaps I shouldn't be so quick to say "take it!"...

Here, its pretty good. You also have to have a key to even get into the building so I wouldn't Have to but a big dog! Personally,I think its a good deal...but I'm just cautious. It seems a little to good to be true.

I think we all noticed subconsciously. Welcome back though.
btw, that place running for $545 is considered a steal in NYC. I envy you for that. **grumbles** damn high NYC rents

Ha, I was asking because prices are different. In LA, that would be a big steal.
How much is minimum wage? How much do you make?
How close is it to civilization?
Minimum wage here is 5.65. I get paid 1400 a month, and I'm a saver so that isn't an issue. Also, does anybody know anything about renters insurance?
