To tell your boss you got a new job?

Well, I just got propositioned by a local software development firm to start working for them. The deal they offered me is pretty amazing, and it blows all hell out of my current job working as an Accounting Clerk, so I'm gonna take it. They're gonna give me a laptop, a cell phone and free internet access as well as more money then I've ever made at any other job in my life.

Anyway, that was just bragging, but here's my problem... I'm loyal to my boss. She's always taken care of me at work and has been just a damn cool boss the whole time I've worked for her. I do most of the work around this office, so when I leave, she's losing an A/P Clerk, a data entry clerk and a secretary.

I'm gonna give her a 2 week notice, that's the least I could do, but how do you tell your boss that you're leaving? It's almost like breaking up with a girlfriend, agh. Someone help?

I would just tell her that you found something that pays more and that you're taking it. Also if you liked working there tell her that you're really sorry but you need the money. I'm sure she'll understand.

depends on the boss.

i had absolutly no qualms about leaving my job when i found Lowes, cause the bosses were absolute dickheads. (not to mention racist towards whites)

now if i were to quit lowes, i would feel bad for a couple people, even tho my quitting really wouldnt affect the store that much.

I think if you explain to her that you really need the money and the only way you can get it is if you go to this new job. I am sure she will understand. Everyone has needs.

Get her a bouquet of roses saying she's been a great boss and then tell her you've found a new job and that you're desperate for the money.

No problem.
People tend to understand those things way better then stupid excuses people like to make up. If you let her know that you need the money and this is the only way you can get it, then you have to do it.
I was in that situation and I am in it now. I am not making as much money as I need to and as much as I say I hate working here, I like it. It's laid back even though it gets hectic so often but if we get a house and if I cannot make my side of the rent, then I am not only hurting myself but I am hurting those who depend on me to pay the rent.

...but people understand money problems, so you should be good.
