I have no clue what to do...

Well I found out yesterday that my absolute best friend/girl i'm going to marry is not doing so hot. First off, she is 5'0" and 90 pounds, and she might need to be hospitalized because she can't gain weight. She wants to gain weight, her body just won't let her eat a lot for some reason. She fills up really quick and she is very very picky about what she eats (cheese fries, bacon, and pizza make up most of her diet so she isn't getting a lot of nutrition) She's also shown signs of pre-osteoporosis because she is calcium deficient. I tried to get her to drink milk, but she absolutely abhors it. She's tried supplements, but her body just isn't absorbing the nutrients because she just isn't eating enough. I have no idea what to do and if anything happened to her i'd be a completely devastated... Has anyone been through this or have any advice for me?

I haven't talked to mine, but she's gone to many doctors, and most of them just give her the old "eat more" shit...if she could eat more, she WOULD. I think I will go to my doctor, he saved my mom's life when the hospital didn't know what was wrong with her. (Her appendix ruptured. All he had to do was put his hand on her stomach and he told them to get her into surgery. If you're ever in RI, DON'T let them take you to Kent Hospital if you get hurt. They're crazy.)

I guess I'd have her try those protein shakes... helps you gain weight.
I had a similar problem with gaining weight...

Take her to a nutritionist and have her follow the guidelines the nutritionist sets for her. If she ignores the nutritionist's advice and sticks to the "cheese fries, bacon, and pizza" (which SHOULD make her gain wait anyways...) then, I have no sympathy. Those that do not care enough about themselves to make sacrifices (such as being less "picky" with what they eat, and eat healthily) in order to restore order to their lifes (health/finance/family) do not deserve my sympathy. Maybe she is just anorexic or bulemic. You said she fills up very quickly. This could just be what she says. Or after eating her healthy doses of cheese fries, bacon, and pizza, does she go immediately to the rest room and throw it all up? (with or without your knowledge). I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but that's what it seems like to me.

If I'm wrong, and she just has some weird condition that can't be fixed by eating more healthy, then I apologize for what I've said. But I suspect that I am right. Either way, take her to a nutritionist and make her stick to the diet they set out for her.

thing is, she just can't eat a lot at all. She could have like maybe a dozen fries or something like that, and she's completely full. The doctors she's been to haven't diagnosed anorexia (as far as I know. She might have it and not want me to worry about, she can get like that) and it's certainly not her choice to be like this, i've seen her bawl her eyes out because she just can't eat anymore and she just doesn't know why. It's really frustrating for everyone, because it seems so easy to fix, but she just can't do it...

And as far as eating healthier, a lot of the foods she doesn't like she couldn't eat without getting sick (not like allergies, but more like her body won't let her eat it for some reason)

Im 4 something and 85 lbs..

Menopause baby, Premature, Anemic, now having liver problems...

And the list goes on.. I can't gain weight either.. The only difference is I guess with your friend and I is that I eat a shit load of food but nothing happens... I've never gained more than 98 lbs..

And I go to the hospital maybe 6 times a year...

She needs a sort of rehabilitation and close monitoring because sooner or later she might reject any kind of food or medications that could help her..

I really want to try and avoid hospitalization, but if things keep going at this rate, it will be necessary. All I can hope for is one run through the system will help her get the weight, maintaining it wouldn't be as hard for her, especially if we work out a plan for her. I'm just really worried about it.
