Help me figure out a career!
So I've been having this problem for the past year or so, I used to know exactly what I wanted to do after high school, I wanted to join the Air Force and eventually work to become a pilot, so I didn't really give anything else much thought, I always just assumed that's what I'd do. So right after graduation, I took a few college classes, then took some time off and worked fulltime for about 8 months. From the time I graduated HS to about the time I ended working I learned a lot about how the systems work, gov., law, ect.. and it really turned me off on my idea to do that exact same stuff for a career.
So now, it's like I'm back in 9th grade with no idea what I want to do for a career in life. So I was wondering if you guys could help point me in the right direction, and help me figure out what I might like doing or what kind of jobs are out there that might peak my interest.
Things that really interest me are astronomy, chemistry, most sciences in general, the movie making industry (writing, concepts, pretty much anything), I'm decent at drawing but I can't really picture doing that for 20+ years, politics is also really big, I love politics, I could see myself doing this for a career, I love animals...
I'm basically looking for a job/career with a good mix of income/fun, I don't want a job that I love that pays barely anything, and I don't want a job that I hate that's bringing in a ton, I'd like to be involved with something that I love doing, that's more important than the income to me, but then again, a guy has to survive and if I could I'd like to find something that would enable me to save money, and grow in the field.
Science has always been my favorite subject, and I'm leaning more towards the astronomy area.
Anybody have any ideas?

well i can tell u that a good astronomist can make more then a doctor and it sounds like u'd have fun with that...
there are tons of things politics wise but i know they have a greater possibility of getting boring and/or bitter
everyone will say vet when u mention animals just as a warning.
if ur into writing u can write about astronomy and science
hoped that helped, i feel like i don't know u well enough to add anything more useful

well its not about how much u make, money shouldnt buy happiness (the ultimate goal). just be happy with what you do and appreciate what you have; the truth to a better happiness.

I'm sorry but I've always thought that this is a load of bullshit. I'm in the process of trying to find a career choice and I refuse to consider any career without factoring in the income. Sure, having something that is likable is important, but if I can tolerate my job and make more than enough money to live comfortably then I'll be happy. After growing up in a family where we lived not so comfortably, money is important to me so that I can one day provide my family with things I didn't have the opportunity to have.
On the topic of careers and stuff, if you really like the sciences you could probably go into pharmacy and become a pharmacist or pharmacy tech. Pharmacists are in HIGH demand they also require quite a bit of schooling, pharmacy techs don't make as much money though... Veterinary Technicians are also in fairly decent demand and they make a fair living. Astronomy isn't exactly a promising field with high demand, so while you could probably make more than a doctor, if there is only 100 employed in the world, getting a job could be tough.
Good luck!

Damn, are you my mother? She's bombarding me with the exact same things.
As for Static...
She's right, you know. Being a pharmacist would be a good choice...just like my mom's saying. Unfortunately for her and me, I am in no way at all interested in the field. But you are into the sciences...it might be a good choice.

You could always have a major in business and a minor in politics. So you can make money since the US is all about the money and use the money to enter politics. I am doing this right now since a business degree gives me alot of choice in the future.

lol if you want to make money, don't be an astronomer. the astronomy field is not properly funded like other sciences are.
stick to relative and practical sciences like chemistry, physics, meteorology, etc...
not that astronomy is bad. but it just isnt the best field, compared to other, more useful sciences.
