Enlistment? Help....
So....I started thinking about everything that was going on...and was browsing the internet and came across the 1-800-GO-GUARD website-again.
I started looking into the programs that they offer and decided to drop by the office today.
The result: I have a meeting tomorrow to discuss enlistment...
So discuss....please.
website: www.1-800-GO-GUARD.com | HOME
(this is gonna piss of rist...srry dude....)
I've been looking at enlistment as an option to help fund my college classes and to learn valuable skills. I know that this is a wartime, but the incentives to join as a "weekend warrior" make it more of a better choice for me...
so I need all you're input on the matter...

if that's what you want to do, then go for it, and don't let anyone else talk you out because they're only thinking of themselves. think about your future at the same time. try and join and go into an area that you can use after the military. example, if you want to be an aircraft mechanic, sign up for that. don't sign up to be a GI. or if you want to be a police officer, be an MP. not an engineer.
i wanted to join the military, but it won't really help me in my career. so that would a waste of 2+years. but oh well.

Unless you are serious, and committed, to a drastic change in lifestyle - don't do it. The incentives to join the military - even on a part time (reservist?) basis - are there for a reason.
It isn't easy, and will likely adversely affect relationships in your life.
It's not a bad decision by any means, just make sure it's the right one for you. Money alone is not a good reason to enlist.

What MOS are you considering Synith? Now keep in mind this is a big decision not to be taken lightly You will already be gone for four months right off the bat between your basic training and AIT and you'll have a very good chance of going to Iraq.

<<<<National Gaurd soldier in Iraq. Its a military branch (in fact its often used to set the standard for regular army and marines), we go to war to.Dont let movies like "Delta Farce" fool you into thinking we are morons,we are quite literaly the most squared away military force in the world (with the acception of certain individuals). The term "weekend warrior" is an old term used not during a time of war,now that we are on title-10 orders we work just as much as active duty,in fact we work more.Im in a combat zone every day,I have been "blown up" and everything.
