Enlistment? Help.... - Page 2

So....I started thinking about everything that was going on...and was browsing the internet and came across the 1-800-GO-GUARD website-again.

I started looking into the programs that they offer and decided to drop by the office today.

The result: I have a meeting tomorrow to discuss enlistment...

So discuss....please.

I've been looking at enlistment as an option to help fund my college classes and to learn valuable skills. I know that this is a wartime, but the incentives to join as a "weekend warrior" make it more of a better choice for me...

so I need all you're input on the matter...

Just be sure to insure your coding hands so that if your other livelihood is destroyed, you're not totally out of luck.

Wow glad I saw this. I was going to start a thread and ask if anyone has loved ones in Iraq and how they deal...my boyfriend joined the National Guard and is leaving Tuesday for basic training. And as far as the "weekend warrior" goes, he's doing that and was told by the recruiter that there's a 90% chance that he'll be shipped off to Iraq after training. And as far as the benefits go, he was told he was going to get either 10 or 20 thousand, and that didn't work out. I'm sure there are educational benefits, but don't believe everything they tell you. Not trying to discourage you or anything, just wanted to tell you all that I know about it.

So... the National Guard... which is supposed to defend the nation (which would indicate staying in the country)... is getting shipped to Iraq?
