So I'm super sick of the office drama going on at my work, I used to be a criminal justice major and am pre-law type and I see within my company they're hiring an alarms and communications officer which is basically like a dispatcher for ambulance services etc at the hospital and I applied. Well, the department I work in now has a boss who just the other night lied about something a girl said, specifically she called and told some other girls "So and so called me and told me you're not working down there, you need to get to work now" which almost caused an actual physical fight. Do I even bother mentioning it to my boss or just act like it slipped my mind if it does come up. I know sometimes they will contact your current supervisor if you already work for the company and just want to switch departments, I'm afraid I'm going to get the boot if she finds out.

Say something, most bosses appreciate honesty and we'll take that into consideration.

I suggest that you do tell your boss because otherwise she might get upset at the news coming from the other department and would be more apt to negatively comment about you. If you can prove that she is causing problems in your department you should contact your HR rep and see what they can do to help. Also, you have a right to see your employee files, so you can request a copy, as well as add comments regarding anything in there (although not remove anything from the file), so you can help secure a fair review from the department you are seeking to transfer to.

I am very familiar with office drama. I interned with a state agency this summer. Try also having drama on the legislative level from politicians with there own agendas as well as the usual office crap. You learn a thing or two.
