Hdtv?

So my next big purchase is going to be an HDTV. Why? I am sick of playing my 360 on this tiny, shitty ass TV and half of the time I can't even read the text on the screen. So I need a HDTV, and I have been wanting one for a while anyways.

But I have have no clue as to what I should get. If anyone here has extensive knowledge and can help me it would be cool. Or if you know a Tech forum you want to lead me to that's cool too.

I don't know what I want really. I was looking at DLPs because they have large screen sizes at an affordable price. The depth isn't really a big concern to me. But do DLPs look a lot worse? Do they suffer from that problem where you can only see it well from certain angles like older DLPs? If so I will probably just save up for a flat screen.

Are you talking a DLP projecter or an actual DLP television.

Any projector is not going to look as crisp or as vibrant as a screen imo. I saw some DLP TVs when I bought my HDTV last fall. They looked nice, but I do remember they looked a little funny from the side. Not as bad as those old rear-projection models, but it was a noticeable difference.

I got a LG 37" LCD. My 360 and Wii both look great, and even standard definition movies look incredibly better. I've had no problems with it so far, and the only reason I didn't go bigger is because anything bigger would have taken up more space than is in my living room for a TV.

Whatever you get, I'd recommend at least 2 HDMI ports and 2 component video connections. Whether or not it has the standard video/audio inputs is really depending on what you need. I got the LG model because it has 2 of each of those connections, and an optical audio out.

I'd say avoid plasmas. Everyone I know who has bought one has had lots of problems, and they don't fix cheap.

I meant the DLP tvs. No projectors for me. I know not to get a plasma, even if they look great they don't last nearly as long as others. My friend that works at Altex told me a DLP would be alight, but if I get something flat go for a LCD.

The big DLP TVs are nice, but they're also really new technology, which means you may encounter a first round of problems since they haven't been around too long (remember how many people bought Plasmas before everyone realized they suck?)

Or maybe they'll be kickass and you'll never have any problems. That's the only risk

I didn't even consider one of those. Too much moolah and too big for my apartment.

If you're looking at a DLP then I suggest you get one. Brother is right in that they haven't been around too long...BUT, they have been around long enough for most of any problems they've had to be resolved. If you want a great picture, then go for a Samsung DLP with LED backlighting. It'll do you very well.

Im gonna purchase an HDTV as well, thinking about LCD, what are some good brands, Im looking at somewhere around 32" for a relatively good deal, or anywhere between 1 - 1.3 k
