Grawl. Forced to take a lame class!
Anyone ever ran out of classes to take for the semester and been forced to fill gaps? This has happened like twice now where I've had to fill in gaps just to get at least 15 credits lined up for the next semester. They should let you have a study hall or something for those last couple of semesters so you don't have to take these filler classes.
This semester I got to choose between picking up another Sociology class and burying myself in research papers/case studies or icky Chemistry. I decided to take Chem and hope to God I can get through it. I would totally take biology if if all the profs here didn't gear it almost totally toward genetics which I don't think I will ever understand.
So I guess, second part of the question...anyone ever take Chemistry? Is it crazy tough?

I've never taken a college class of chemistry but it's not difficult to get a handle on. You probably made the best choice if you are not really interested in any of those subjects. I imagine genetics is more difficult than chemistry. I have always thought chemistry was simple though. And I'm just speculating here. Remember my thread on DXM extraction.

I think it will probably be a better shot than genetics for sure. And if I become a master's level therapist or even go for my doctorate in Sociology it might be helpful to have a start in the background of chemistry to understand psychiatric drugs. Maybe it won't be so bad.

I took Chemistry in high school and loved it. Though I'm sure it gets more in depth in a college class, but it really isn't that hard...

I took a highschool chemistry class, I thought it was one of the tougher ones in highschool. There's a lot of math involved and memorizing formulas n shit like that. Other than all the math stuff, it's a breeze.
That shit sucks you have to take 'fill in' classes, I would be burnt, I'd rather be sleeping during that time...lol.

All my sciencey friends told me the easiest science class in college for them so far was Chemistry 111. I don't like chemistry, but if it is an easy class compared to Biology, I'd take it.
I actually took Principles of Genetics (BIOL 105) and got an A. It was really tough and I hardly payed attention nor did I study. I had a pretty good teacher though.

You should be fine. My fiancé's chemistry class was easier than my high school class. That may just be because my teacher is crazy.
In any case, you should be able to find plenty of people that can help you if need be.

My brother took Chemistry in college, he was almost graduated with a BioChem major, and I didn't hear any horror stories about it, so it can't be that bad. I would've taken Biology though, only because I'm taking a Bio college class through my high school right now (Advanced Placement course, AP anyone?) and I absolutely love the class. Love it. Love Bio, love genetics. o.o

chemistry isn't as bad as many ppl think, i've taken biology, chem 1 & 2, & all the way through mathematical physics, & i honestly thought chem was the easiest & bio was the hardest.

I had to do this once, and that was this semester. I'm taking Reason/Satire, even though I wanted to take "Brain and Behavior" instead. I like the class, but I feel like as a writer, Brain and Behavior would of benefitted me more. At least the teacher is cool with all my random comments, lol.
