Final
I have an essay due for class and I am wondering if you lovelies would help me with it. The paper is on gender roles and differences. The prompt is:
Do you think women should be allowed in the Armed Forces? Why or why not?
Please help!

i don't see why women shouldn't be allowed to. some things of course women can't do (physical differences in muscles for example, proven fact) but i don't see a reason why they can't join in some way. it's a freedom of choice matter in my view.

Ok.
What about the draft? Should they be included in that?

You should talk about how women are equal to men with the 19th amendment and the civil rights act of 1964. And that since women have rights they have to pay for them "freedom is not free". You could argue that it is discrimination to only make men part of the draft regristation, and if women are not willing to sign up, that they are not entitled to the same rights as men. I just threw out a few viewpoints to help.

Thank you. I was starting to go with the aspect that just because women are considered the fairer sex, does not mean that they could not handle war or the physically draining training.

i hope i don't come off as a sexist when i said that women can't do all of the physical things a man can. if that was true then women would be doing just as good as men in athletic events such as track and field. unless a woman takes steroids or some testosterone supplement, she can't do the same work. this is not to say she won't come close. she may very well come close if not surpass some men but men will always come out on top there. personally, i don't know why more women aren't spies. most women (it seems to me) have a knack for human emotion and intuition so it seems the most logical i guess.

yes they should be. i find it very unfair that only men are allowed in the draft.

if we're going to have a draft, then women should be on it. i mean, one of the reasons women weren't in the military to start with was because they had to stay home to take care of the kids, but the number of stay-at-home moms is shrinking i believe. women are already serving in the arms forces, and they seem to be doing just fine. plus other countries, i think israel is one?, have women who serve, and its fine. its just stereotyping saying that women cant do it bc we're the "weaker sex", but there are a lot of jobs in the military that don't require a lot of muscle nowadays.
hope this helps!

well, since i believe women have equal rights they should be allowed to defend them. hence, they should be allowed into the draft.
