Alright I'm having a hard time deciding my major...

So I'm already accepted into school for Medical Assisting, but with todays events I don't think that I can do that. My brother got a really bad bloody nose and I almost puked because of the blood.

Well Pittsburgh Culinary Institute came to my school Thursday and gave a presentation. I was really interested in it the entire time. I decided that I wanted to go tour the school and see what and all it has to offer. I know that it offers the following:
Culinary Arts
Bar tending
Business and Hospitality
Pastry
Ice Sculpting
I think there are others but I'm not really sure.

I would love to do this but I'm not sure. I keep going between Culinary school and Music Recording and Production. I love both of these things but its really hard for me to decide.

Music is my life. I can run a sound board just as well as someone that went to school for it. I help with mixing for a local band and I also help produce some of their home-demos and absolutely love every minute of it. The only problem with this is there really isnt that big of a career base for it. Yeah people are always producing records but there are only a few big name record companies and it's nearly impossible to get into them. Yes I could work in a smaller recording company but there is no way I could make enough money to live.

So then I thought about Culinary Arts. It still has to do with an art form and the school is Le Cordon Bleu, which means that they are associated with Le Cordon Bleu in France. There is always a demand for chef's and the school places in high class places. Also they teach you how to open your own business and do all the stuff you need to keep it running. I really think I would like doing this and it would be pretty easy to find a job. The career base is HUGE for professional chef's.

I'm soooooo confused. I'd love doing both of them but I have no idea which one I want to do.
Can anyone point out things that I might have missed and help me with my decission?

Thats what my parents keep saying but they won't help me decide. If I went with my biggest passion I'd be poor for the rest of my life or be fighting to be recogonized in the music industry. I'm soooooo confused right now!

I always put everything I have into my music. Anything from composition to putting the final label on it. Everything has to be perfect or I will stay up for however long it takes to make it perfect by my standards. If something is out of tune on the demo I scrap the demo and make whoever was out of tune rerecord their part as soon as I tune their instrument.

The only thing that I'm worried about is that I won't be able to get into a big label after I graduate and then I won't have anything to fall back on and I don't do good with the whole concervative look thing so I couldn't work in an office.

I'm starting to lean toward Culinary Arts only because I know there is a higher demand for it.

I could always run sound in some local bars. I've already been asked to do it for one bar but I'm not 18 so they can't employ me yet.

Culinary Arts has always sounded like a lot of fun to me. And I love food. Who doesn't?! Haha.

I know it's difficult for you to hear this when you're looking for advice, but it really wouldn't be fair of us to tell you which one we think you should choose. That's something that will pretty much decide the path for the rest of your life and that is a decision that can only lie in your own hands.

I know its all in my hands. I'm just soooo confused and if I choose certain schools I have to take my ACT's...I know I should have taken them last year I slacked a little.

I really want to do the recording and production but so many things are stopping me and making the Culinary Arts look sooo much better.

Sometimes those kind of blocks are put there on purpose in life.

I'm sure no matter which one you choose though, it will be a good one.

Thank you. At least someone thinks that whatever decision I make will be good.

Ugh I'm starting to get a headache. I hate that part of my personality...once I start thinking about something that needs an answer I won't stop until I have the answer.

Your job opportunities in the music business aren't going to be promising unless you are REALLY REALLY lucky and have some talent.

I say go for Culinary Arts and if it was meant to be in the music business that is where you'll end up. Besides, you need some sort of skill and... culinary is a good skill to have and the job opportunities are ENDLESS. If you get into something like ice sculpting or owning your own business I'm sure you could make big bucks.

I keep going back and forth deciding if I want to stay here for a full four years or transfer out after this years. It is scary, I just have to keep reminding myself, twenty years down the road I am going to regret the things I didn't do more than the things I did. Define that for you!
