What am I?
As stated in another thread, I was born and raised in a mormon household. However, I am also gay. Despite the fact that it is next to impossible to get to what is known as Hell to most, and outer darkness to mormons (in the mormon belief system, whether you're gay or not), I find that mormonism is not what I believe in. Just ask one of your mormon friends if you have one...three kingdoms of Heaven, and one must be good enough to get into the highest kingdom, to fall into outer darkness.
Anyway, I find that I believe that if someone lives as they believe is, that is what they will get. If you understand what I mean...
Seriously though...not that I am saying what the terrorists did on 9/11 was good (for a matter of fact it was one of the most demonic things in my mind that anyone could have ever done) but I do believe, that if they TRULY, without a doubt believed that what they were doing was right; a great, loving, merciful, gracious, forgiving God, would not send them to Hell. Think about...
For instance...I was taught that if someone is not taught in the mormon faith and they never had a chance to get to learn about it, as long as they live a good life they have a chance to get to the highest kingdom (otherwise if you have a chance to learn about the mormon sect of christianity, you do not join it, and do not get married in one of their temples with a person of the opposite sex, than you cannot reach the highest kingdom, of course it is still up to God in where you go, for instance I think most mormons believe Mother Theresa is going to go to the highest kingdom). THEN there are gay people such as myself...yes I was born mormon....but there are tons of gay people who are not mormon, and lots of them now-a-days are told it is ok to be gay. Does anyone honestly think someone who is gay would willingly join a church that says they cannot love the person who makes them feel complete?!? NO I think not (I know one guy, but he literally insane).
SO this is the flaw I found in the mormon church that really irked me. No one would join if they are told the way they love a person is wrong. And I refuse any one religion just for the, "Oh, it is ok that you are gay, we accept you." Ugh...money scam right there...just trying to get more people to join. Plus I would rather believe in a church, than join a church because I like one of their aspects.
WAIT there's more. Now I know this is going to sound like I am just trying to fit things together, but who does not try to make sense of things by forming and fitting and manipulating things?!? I think this may be it...and if it is not...oh well, it is my truth, even if it is not your!
I believe God manifests himself*/herself*/itself*/themselves* in many different forms and ways. That is why there are so many different religions, and I think it is really just the religions themselves (as a separate entity from God) thats says, "Thou shalt not worship false idols". I mean, if you look at all of them, they all essentially preach the same things:
Charity
Love
Patience
Duty
Respect
Kindness
The Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have done unto you."
and the three fold rule for others...
so on and so forth...I do not think I need to say more.
So what am I? Is there a word for it? What are other people's opinions on this? Does anyone else feel the same way? Or am I just insane?
I do have other beliefs, but I am done for now. Thanks for reading this long mo-fo thread!

Pantheism, Deism, and a number of other ones come to mind.
In any case, you're just as fucked up as anyone else. Especially the French...

I would call you correct.
Much of what is built around the Message (delivered by many Messengers throughout history in many different ways) is the exact idolatry that many are constantly told to avoid.
Your Truest Beliefs are shown by your character, the person that you are, and the fruits of your labor.
You could worship a stick and be a better Christian than an actual Christian in terms of lifestyle. So because you believe certain imperialist dogma that means you make the cut even if you are an asshole to everyone in the meantime?
You can recognize that you have your own specific beliefs, but they are your own and serve you. Yet those beliefs lead you to an end that is most beneficial for your fellow species, and in turn yourself.
This is the essenc of what many call God. This is natural intelligence correcting itself.
The next evolution will not be one of the body, but one of the mind and spirit.
But I digress.
You seem to share views similar to my overall belief system. Alas, I do not know what I am called either
Know that we are brothers.
Namaste!

I've heard the Mormon belief system...and it's odd...the county where I'm from, they run EVERYTHING...it was so bad that I could never get a date because if you're not Mormon, you can't date their girls, though the Mormon guys were more than welcome to date non-mormon girls...the five that were in my class >_<

Ok, this is going to sound like the moronic way of going about things, but it really helps. Go to beliefnet.com and take the quiz there. It helps you think about what you believe in, what you think you should get out of a religion and what your religious priorities are. I've found it to be pretty accurate. Plus, it's a lot easier than reading about every single religion out there and finding one, if you want to find one, that fits your beliefs best.

Oh, wow, I didn't think it was going to be such a popular test. But, I just wanted to give you an easy way to learn about different religions. Just because you were born into a certain religion, it doesn't mean that you can't convert.

Noo what I mean is, that God will not punish you for being taught something and you following it to the letter, even though it is against his rules, but you had been taught it was how God wanted things to be done. For my example i used up there was that the 9/11 terrorists...if they truly believed what they were doing was commanded to them by their god, and they thought it was the holy thing to do (even though it was obviously not) and they did not have hate in their hearts, but did it solely on their gods say that God would not punish them for doing something they thought would get them into heaven. They say God is gracious...well I think that is what they talk about when they say his Grace can/will save you...aside from some of the other thoughts I have on "God's grace". I don't know though, my veiws are constantly changing and evolving everyday..because I tend to learn something that changes my perspective.
