Scientific Evidence for Parallel Universe?
A large void about a billion light years across has been found in space. This is about 10,000 times larger than the Milky Way.
Current cosmological understanding cannot explain such an anomaly.
Thoughts?

Perhaps I am just a little to tired to really think about what I was just reading but I didn't see how that was evidence of a parallel universe. Sure, it's unusual and cannot be explained but then again space is huge. Is it really that surprising that there is a giant void somewhere? There are probably a number of possible reasons for it that I can think of. To list a few off the top of my head.....
1. At some point there was a large explosion for some unknown reason that destroyed everything within that area.
2. If you want to consider the possibility of the big bang then one could suggest that is where it first exploded. I could imaging that with the force of the bang you may have a large area that nothing appeared in.
3. It just happens to be a giant void.
I guess the parallel universe thing is a possibility but I also think a lot of question remain unanswered and to many other possibilities still remain.

I personally think its just a distortion in space where there actually is light and matter there, its just too distant that its light hasnt reached us yet, because of the universal expansion.

I like that explanation. I should also clarify, when i hear "parallel universe" I interpret that to mean "Source" because even with a Big Bang Theory (which i have no problems with) there is something from whence the Big Bang came. This "rift" could be nothing more than a universal bellybutton, where the big bang emanated from and has since expanded from.

Sounds like a reasonable idea to me.

But then the question comes, where did the Big Bang come from? Where did the elements come from to allow the event to occur?
I don't have an answer, but it's still fun to ask

String Theory Summarized
Person 1: "I just had an awesome idea. Suppose all matter and energy is made up of tiny, vibrating "strings"."
Person 2: "Okay, what would that imply?"
Person 1: "I dunno."

Neither do I, but it's always good to question things.

LOL thats about it. Although string theory seems to be a more poetic expression for the general quest to find a Grand Unification Theory to quantum physics which would incorporate gravity.
