My opinion of what makes a sick fuck.
People that teach a religion to a child are just sick. The greatest way to completely brain wash someone is to take advantage of them at a young age. Their brains are still developing and they can grow to believe this. It is just wrong to force religion on still developing child. It does nothing good for them.

Well, by you not going to church and condemning those who do in front of your child, calling them close-minded and simpletons and whatnot, you're also brainwashing him.
The truth is, not matter what you do, you're going to teach your kid something, when they grow older teens to adulthood, they'll choose their own path. Or should. Not EVERYONE gets brainwashed by church. I went to church all my life until I was about 17, then I stopped.

I'm sorry, let me be more specific about my point. I don't give a FUCK what you believe in. You can believe that santa clause is the Lord of all. Just don't teach it to a baby. I never said a thing about condemning people who go to church. That does not teach kids anything either. My point is that it is fucking sick to push religion on a child, period. Honestly, why the hell would I say anything like what you just said. I believe in religious tolerance. I would never say that someone was a simpleton because of their beliefs.

I never said you did. I was giving an example of the extreme OPPOSITE of what you were saying. Yeah, Christian schools might push their ideals on the kid, but they might have better teachers than the non-biased school I went to who just based everyone and didn't give a fuck if we could write a sentence more complex than "I see a dog shit."

So you would raise the child Atheist?
For someone that believes in religious tolerance seems a little closed minded when it comes to the indoctoration of your child.

Oh, I want him in a Christian school just because the public schools around here are terrible. I just didn't think it was necessary to put him an a Christian Pre-school. I don't think there is any reason for a religious pre-school except to push religion on the child.

I wouldn't raise him as anything. I would let him figure it out on his own and if he had any questions about anything I would try to help. Why do you say I'm closed minded about indoctrination? I don't care if he decides to be Atheist or not.
I just don't believe in pushing a religion on a child. I think they should know that their are many beliefs and they can make a choice. Even if that choice is nothing.

Well, if the normal schools are terrible, it's only natural the daycares/preschools would follow suit.

The public school around here is terrible now because the in the past few years put up a lot of low income housing. They are full of nothing but gangs and other filth. All the trash from the ghettos in Baltimore have been moving into the area.

I agree. This sorta goes along with that, I was talking to a religious buddy of mine about his religion, and I asked him "ok, if you had never heard of any religions until you turned 18, then picked up the bible, would you believe it?" and he said "no, I probably wouldn't". That tells you something about how a childs mind develops...
I'm the same way, if I end up having a couple kids, I am not going to teach them about religion, atheism is just the absense of religion, so that's how my household will most likely work.
And to take that thought a little farther, wouldn't it be great if that's how it worked anyway? Parents weren't allowed to teach their kids religion till they're adult enough to choose to accept it or deny it?
How do religious people view that kind of stuff? Could one of you who does believe in a God shed some light on that for me? That was another major factor in my discovery that God is a manmade idea, how someones location can dictate their religion (in most cases), for example, you live in christian dominated USA, chances are you will be christian, you live in Pakistan, chances are you will be Islamic or Muslim... this of course doesn't happen in every single case, but definitely most. I don't get how people can still think their religion is absolutely legitimate when things like this are present...
Did you guys understand that, or should I reword it, it's a little confusing to understand...
