Spanish Food
While spending time in Mexico, I heard of a distant cousin who happened to marry a Spaniard and went to live over there. They also said she takes like a sack of beans and a sack of maseca (the stuff used to make corn tortillas). Apparently the Spanish bastards dont have Beans or Tortillas over there. A person like me could probably not live very long over there, I am a beaner at heart, thats the one and only food I can never get tired of. This also got me thinking, what do typical americans eat?

Well are you asking what the typical American food would be, or what I as an American, typically eat?
-I think typical American food would be along the lines of hotdogs, hamburgers, not that they came from America, just that if you think of American food, that's usually what comes to my mind... apple pie.
-I think where you live pretty much dictates what you generally eat, me being in the southwest, I love Mexican food, people in the northeast would prolly dig Philly Cheese, down south they like homecooked shit like chicken and cornbread and gumbo, in the northwest, you'll prolly find a lot of people who like fish...

When ever I eat over at my friends house they usually eat steak, mashed/baked potatoes, turkey, steamed vegetables, pasta and salad. I always feel like I'm in a restaurant whenever I have dinner there.

In Ohio we have a variety we eat. Since most of my family is from Kentucky, West Virginia, etc. we eat a lot of chicken, greens, potatoes, veggies, beef.
For example, last night we had cube steaks, greens, baked potato and salad.

Ohio is a meat and potatoes type of state. The typical meal is some sort of meat (more likely then not beef), some sort of potatoes (mashes, scalloped, au gratin, baked), some sort of vegetable and a salad.....well at least this is what supper consists of with my family and friends

American food is truly a smorgasboard of all types of ethnic foods, even our "American food" comes from other countries. Apple pie originated from England
And actually the most American foods we have are either incorporated into the ironic category of "Tex-Mex" or not seen as an American meal. The Native American made popcorn (from regular corn), squash, etc, but the chiles from South America get incorporated into Tex-Mex and isn't seen as truly American.
