I was just wondering who people thoguht were the most underrated or overrated teams and athletes...ever.

For overrated players, I think it's just most of the veterans who were good back in the day, but have started slowing down due to age and injuries. I think Peyton Manning is overrated. He is good, but he's not a football God. At all.

In hockey, Eric Lindros has been overrated for years. When he was first drafted and he was uninjured, he was a very effective center, but once he started having all of those head injuries, he just declined fast. Joni Pitkanen, who was on the Flyers for a few years, was an awful defenseman, but everyone insisted that he was great. He has a really heavy shot, but he can't grasp the concept of cutting off the passing and shooting lanes without interfering with the goalies vision.

There is no way that Peyton Manning is overrated. He's done everything that every other great quarterback has done. He's also en route to break most of the League's quarterback records. So there is no way he is overrated.

yeah, im from tennessee and i think peyton manning is over rated.

Overrated- Ben Roethlesberger, Kansas basketball, and the Big Ten

Underrated- Mountain West (both football and basketball), Vernon Wells, and Chase Daniel (little biased on that one).

I forgot to add someone else to my overrated list, Danica Patrick. And NASCAR fans might hate me for this, but Dale Earnhardt Jr. is severely overrated too

NFL Overrated Players/Coaches - Belichick, Vick, McNabb & McNair (tied), Leftwich [notice he's unemployed], Delhomme, "That Idiot Kicker" Mike Vanderjagt, Tom Coughlin, Plaxico Burress, Jamal Lewis, Lendale White, Pennington

No Specific Order
NFL Underrated Teams - Redskins, 'da Lions, 'da Packers, Titans, Colts (Yes I think they are underrated as a defending Superbowl champ), "Well-dressed" Amani Toomer (I noticed a passing game dropoff last year after he went down to injury)
NFL Underrated Players/Coaches - Sean Payton & Mike Nolan (tie), Vince Young, Leon Washington, Kevin Jones, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Jared The Hefty Lefty Lorenzen, Brett Favre

First three specific order
Overrated Analysts - Bill Walton (who always bashes the Knicks nonstop during every game he analyses), Joe Theismann, Deion Sanders, Tiki Barber, Anyone on CBS (Why do they get to cover the Giants against the AFC? Their analysts are not so good.), Dexter Tony Kornheiser of PTI (Yes Dexter is his first name, as pointed out by Statboy Tony Reali earlier this week)

I understand how people think Peyton Manning is overrated and how people think he's not, but I don't understand Peyton Manning being UNDERrated. He has so much press surrounding him and there are so many people out there who practically worship him (unfortunately). I guess I'm just not on your wavelength.

pI don't understand how you could say Payton Manning is overrated PERIOD. He's continuously leads the league in all the passing categories and barring any injuries, will set many records. And for those of you brainwashed by the "Quarterbacks are measured by championships" bulls**t, can't use that against him either now.
