Speaking to Kotaku, Turbine's communications director Adam Mersky confirmed that the company is working on a console title. He did not specify if the project is an existing game, like Dungeons & Dragons Online or Lord of the Rings Online, or a brand new title. The company is looking to expand, with 40 more job postings and 60 hirings since the beginning of the year.
Speaking about the company's recent $40 million infusion in cash, "The people that invested in us, Time Warner... one of the media giants, getting into the MMO fold, and that's obviously a big deal," said Mersky. "They also have a huge distribution network... that may bear fruit for us."
Mersky also revealed that Turbine is looking towards user-generated content and open worlds. "We're working on tech to let people... enable self evolving worlds," commented Mersky. "The idea is, we have these immersive, beautiful 3D worlds and they're designed by professional artists - but how can we let people create content in those... without 'suburban sprawl,' allow them to create gameplay environments."
