Color-blind gamers: common. Developer awareness? Minimal

My dad is color blind, luckily I am not. I guess it would kinda suck, I sure am glad I am not affected. Also, I think I have heard that color blindness affects only males because of their Y Chromosomes, damn females and their advantages

first of all, the article says that color blindness is related to the X chromosome, and that therefore women are less likely to get it.

I dunno if that's just a typo or if they actually thought it was the X chromosome, but maybe somebody needs to go back to science class.

Women can be colorblind, I think, they're just drastically less likely to be.

Yes, women can be color blind but only if they have the color blind gene in both of their x chromosomes, it is easier, therefore that men can become color blind because they only have one x chromosome to manipulate. For example, a woman can have the color blind allele on one chromosome but on the other x they have normal eyesight. Normal eyesight is dominant, therefore takes over. Men on the other have either normal eyesight or color blind allele.

I know my boyfriend gets all upset when he can't distinguish colors because he wants to be a Game Developer. Of course he couldn't distinguish red from red orange in dim lighting so I'm not to worried.
