Okay ever since 1999 or something, this music company made CDs of little kids singing top 10/20 hits. But I don't see the point in it because the words don't seem edited in the songs and most of the kids will listen to the regular songs (even though some aren't appropriate for them). So why do they make it?

I got pissed off at Kid Bop because I got it from my brother not realizing the kids really sing it. I thought it was kinda a cool mix [was quite awhile ago], I just figured it was kid acceptable and the kids were singing along in the commercial. I don't want to hear them sing it. Stupid kids. >>;

Song currently possessing my soul: Don't have one, waiting to hear it.
I know that is a great point. If it wasn't for some of my earlier exposures to R rated movies and porn mags ( I got in trouble for looking). I'd probably be one of those adults who didn't seem to know anything in the world. True I still have a lot to learn and experience but at least I know it's out there.
I remember my 18-year old RA would freak out if she say a girl on MTV show cleavage, while I would grow up seeing blurred out nudity on the channel
Even though she was supposed to be very smart and well travelled she just seemed a little jaded or something.
Yea but blocking out reality can seriously cause some problems with growing up. I kind of lived a sheltered life when I was younger but I also did stupid, rebellious things so I got to see a lot more of the scum of the world then a majority of people do. I hate that I went through a lot of those things but I would not be as educated about things today if I didn't explore those kinds of things.
Sheltering your children from sex, relationships, friendships, music, TV or anything else will not help them in the real world because no matter how bad we do not want to see those things or how bad we do not want them to happen, they do happen and they will keep happening.

Yea. I didn't get sold a lot of games when I was younger. I remember WalMart turning me down when I tried to buy Drakenguard when I was about 15 or 16. The stores do their jobs, the game designers do their jobs, the raters do their jobs so the parents need to do theirs and be involved in that child's life. Whether or not it has blood, gore, violence, nudity or whatever the parent doesn't approve of....those are all things that are real even in the gaming world. No, mindless killing does not teach our children anything but when we are involved in their life we can teach them tons.

I love how they have the kids singing songs about sex implied, but they have to censor the 'bad' words.
See one reason why I don't see the point in censoring your child from listening to the regular artists.
And while we are on the topic of music, why do parents get mad when Miley did her photos in Vanity Fair? She wasn't really topless, just her back showed. I mean it was almost 10 years ago that sweet Britney Spears came out and look at her now. And every Disney darling tries to mainstream themselves, you can't be a kid's idol forever. Most kids go through phases where they love an artist one minute and then switch to another and another. I had so many celeb crushes and idols as a kid, they about changed every year or two.
Trying to appeal to a more grown up fan base is part of the game. And quite frankly what happened to the times when children idolized Burt and Ernie and not some pop tart. I remember when the Spice Girls were famous, I loved them as a 14-15 year old but you'd hear and see news breifs about children as young as 2 loving them and emulating them. WTF? And from there came Britney, Christina, Jessica, Mandy, etc, etc.
I even see girls under the age of 10 wearing taller platformed shoes than I do and I'm 24.

I remember listening to the Notorious B.I.G., Wu Tang Clan, Method Man...basically, a lot of the rap artists that were popular around that time. The catch was, if either of my parents heard me repeat anything of what they were saying, I would have no taste in my mouth to slap out. lol
