I don't think it'd be "goading them into a war"

but it certainly is a warning. I would guess it is more of an attempt to curb their influence in Iraq, than to prepare for any Israeli-Iranian confrontation.

I've heard that too, but perhaps there are things to be afraid of.

I am afraid of an Iranian-Israeli conflict. I am afraid of Iran gaining more power in the region via Iraq.

And this enemy in my eyes, is more scary than the USSR. The USSR was at least a rational enemy. These extremist islamo-fascists...are literally fucking insane.

And I would say that the USSR was certainly something to be feared. They had nukes pointed at us for Christ's sake.
