On a serious note though. I don't see how this is a "merger" of any kind, or what kind of significance you think it has, and I'd like to see a few other links that goes deeper into it. I looked for some, but couldn't find that much info on it. A lot of blogs, and whatnot.

I think it has significance when they don't mainstream it to us. If there were debates and reasons all over the news I would think they were being honest.
But I do agree that I don't remember Canada having an army, but I'd have to look it up somewhere.

And it wasn't just recently, it says on wiki they were termed the Canadian Army in 1940. I guess since they don't get in everyone's business they aren't as well known.
