I heavily considered joining the military, I scored high on the ASVAB, there's no way in hell I'd go fight this war if I got drafted. Not at all because I'm scared, there are a few things I would pick up a rifle and defend to the death, but that sure as hell isn't one of them.

He was trying to emphasize the "we'll stay their til the job is done" point, he was exaggerating. From most reports, we won't have to stay there all that long. We're already beginning stages of phasing out troops, and turning over provinces to the Iraquis.
